ch@tter (aka story time)

How long does it take?

So two things come to mind?  How long does it take to get to the center of a lolly pop?  AND  would a would chuck chuck wood if a wood chuck could chuck wood?  Today in what we fondly call a HUDDLE (aka staff meeting) I learned just how long an import script takes to process and import a batch of records into the onView CRM.  One hour per 15,000 records.  I think that is neat.  It is a variable.  Meaning that not every record has a first name or last name and some records can have ten phone numbers or five addresses, some will be on a mailing list and some won't but as an average rule of thumb or what I like to unscientifically call a guesstimate: 15,000 per hour sounds pretty nice.

Why is this important or worth sharing with the world?  Well the only real reason I can come up with is as a foreshadowing to tell you all that if you come to us and you ask us  to import or you go and try and import using an import tool a bulk of contacts - it is gonna take some time.  Even the fastest, baddest, meanest machines have to process, run scripts and stick all that information into just the right spot and well, it seems doing so takes time.
